| PROJECT INFORMATION | The Honourable Company Special Economic Zones (HCSEZ) Expansion Project is a national infrastructure development initiative designed to establish five Special Economic Zones (SEZs) across the country. This project aims to attract foreign direct investment, boost manufacturing capabilities, create employment opportunities, and enhance India's position as a regional manufacturing and logistics hub. Project Objectives:
The first of these zones is the Chandigarh Industrial Special Economic Zone, located in the city of Chandigarh, which is roughly 250 kilometers from the city centre of New Delhi. It will be focusing on electronic, automotive parts, textiles, and food processing. The CISEZ will have direct highway and rail access to New Delhi and its airport and will measure roughly 5,700 hectares in size. These 5,700 hectares will be broken into 3,000 hectares dedicated to manufacturing and heavy industry; 1,000 hectares dedicated to logistics, freight, and customs; 600 hectares dedicated to commercial, tech, and corporate office zones; 900 hectares dedicated to worker housing and social infrastructure; and 200 hectares dedicated to environmental zones. Within this zone will also be a dedicated internal freight rail siding, a dedicated substation of roughly 400 kV, a treated wastewater and recycle system, an on-site logistics park with a container yard, and a dedicated customs clearance facility. |
