PROJECT INFORMATION	The Northern Prosperity Corridors Initiative (NPCI) is a flagship economic development project focused on creating Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in key regions of former North Korea. These SEZs will serve as engines of industrialization, trade, and foreign direct investment (FDI) by offering favorable business environments, tax incentives, and regulatory flexibility to both domestic and international firms. This project positions unified Korea as a new investment gateway to Northeast Asia, taking advantage of proximity to China, Russia, and Japan. Strategic Objectives Target manufacturing, textiles, electronics, shipbuilding, and light industry Offer 10–15 year tax holidays, land leases, and full repatriation of profits. Priority invitations to firms from China, Japan, and Russia Upgrade ports (Rason), rail links (to China & Russia), and highways. Establish bonded warehouses and customs zones. Train and absorb labor from former DPRK’s underemployed workforce. Encourage local supplier development and services. Pilot capitalist systems (labor contracts, private enterprise, capital markets) in formerly closed regions.
