PROJECT INFORMATION	The Myanmar Special Economic Zones Expansion Project is a national infrastructure development initiative designed to establish five Special Economic Zones (SEZs) across the country. This project aims to attract foreign direct investment, boost manufacturing capabilities, create employment opportunities, and enhance Myanmar's position as a regional manufacturing and logistics hub. Project Objectives: Establish 5 new world-class SEZs totaling 15,000 hectares. Create 500,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. Increase manufacturing exports by 300% within 8 years. Develop integrated logistics and supply chain infrastructure. Zone 1: Yangon Industrial SEZ (3,500 hectares) 45km southeast of Yangon city centre. Focusing on electronics, automotive parts, textiles, and food processing. YISEZ will have direct highway access to Yangon Port and Yangon International Airport. Zone 2: Mandalay Manufacturing SEZ (3,000 hectares) 25km north of Mandalay Focusing on agricultural processing, pharmaceuticals, and light manufacturing. Railway connection to China and India border, road access to central Myanmar. Zone 3: Thilawa Expansion SEZ (2,500 hectares) Adjacent to existing Thilawa SEZ. Focusing on heavy manufacturing, petrochemicals, and logistics. Deep-water port acess and industrial railway line through Yangon. Zone 4: Dawei Coastal SEZ (4,000 hectares) Dawei, Tanintharyi Region Focusing on export-oriented manufacturing, shipbuilding, and steel processing. Deep-sea port development and Thailand border region access. Zone 5: Muse Border Trade SEZ (2,000 hectares) Muse, Shan State Focusing on cross-border trade, assembly operations, and warehousing. Direct road and rail links to China's Yunnan Province and Thailand's border region. Each SEZ will have the following: ready-to-use factory plots with all utilities, dedicated power substations (500MW total capacity), industrial water treatment and supply facilities, fiber optic networks and 3G connectivity, internal road networks, rail spurs, and cargo handling facilities, and industrial waste treatment and recycling centres. Multi-modal logistics hubs in each zone, temperature-controlled and general storage facilities, inland container depots with customs facilities, and heavy vehicle parking and maintenance facilities. One-stop service centres for permits and licensing, banks, insurance, and trade finance facilities, skills development and technical training facilities, worker housing and dormitory complexes, shopping centres, restaurants, and healthcare facilities. Each SEZ will take 3 phases and all five SEZs will take roughly eighteen months to build.
