| PROJECT INFORMATION | The Kollam Naval Base Expansion is a project to expand the size of Kollam Naval Base from the ability to dock three corvette-sized ships to a total of 9. Infrastructure The port will see the addition of three reinforced double-sided jetties, offering six primary berths. Using side-by-side double-banking, the base will be able to accomodate an additional six corvette-sized vessels. Extensive dredging will also be executed to maintain a deep-draft approach channels and a high-diameter turning basin. Logistics To ensure fleet readiness, the base will function as a self-contained replenishment centre:
Command, Control, and Security The administrative and security heart of the base will be situated roughly 1 km inland to provide a protective buffer and operational oversight.
Personnel & Garrison Support The base will provide permanent stationing for 250 naval personnel.
