DEPLOYMENT ORDERS |
|
CONTEXT
Amid an attack on the American Embassy in Ankara, a Turkish incursion into Kurdish Iraq, and Israel abandoning the Oslo Accords, the idea that the world was in a calm and stable state was anything but true. The brewing of troubles in the Levant led to President LaFleur ordering the mobilization of Carrier Strike Group Four to have a presence in the Mediterranean should American forces, or American support, be necessary in the area. The mobilization came as a surprise, as shore leave for thousands of soldiers was abruptly cancelled as they were all ordered to return back to Virginia for an "expedited" deployment. The nature of the deployment, as well as the destination, was kept secret and not officially disclosed to most of the crew besides the highest members of the officer corps.
